What is branding?

“How can I become a great brand? How can I make this brand sustainable? What will bring value to my brand? Just what is my story, and how do I tell it? And, my favorite question and the most important by far: What the hell is branding?

Branding is more than a logo. It’s more than a website. It’s more than a business card. It’s more than the colors and typefaces you choose to represent your company. Your brand is your voice in the marketplace, and it is your proposition for disruption. It is your opportunity to create something with lasting impact. It is how you tell your story, and it is absolutely key to your success and survival.”(1)

Mpression Marketing Group began as a branding company. Helping start-ups and local Connecticut small business owners spruce up their marketing from the way you answer the phone to how you present yourself at a business meeting.

So much goes into branding that gets overlooked. How your employees dress, talk, answer the phone. This all reflects your brand. The business cards you hand out and the website you refer potential prospects to is the easy part – it’s everything else that matters.

One of the biggest questions I get asked is – “How do I get my customers to know all the services and products I provide?” This is a great question! You can have the best product or service in the work but if it is not reflected in your brand or marketed properly – no one will ever know about it; nor care!

Take a step back for a moment and reflect on your business. Is there consistency to how you market, sell, and deliver your product or service? Does it reflect your core values as a company? What is your company’s mission statement or reason for being?
